HELP, PLEASE!! Eating Disorder Treatment Question–urgent advice needed

Sorry I have been so out of touch lately..I will write soon to catch everyone up. I do not have much time at the moment, but I was wanting to pose a public question and hopefully get some much-needed feedback/answers:

Have any of you out there been to a residential eating disorder treatment center? Which one? I made the decision (more on this to come) to check myself into one, however I am having trouble deciding. I really am interested in Mirasol of Tuscan, AZ. Their holistic/natural approach and whole, organic foods is what I think I will respond best to. If anyone has any suggestions and/or reviews of Mirasol or others that are similiar, I would really, truly appreciate it. I would prefer a more relaxed, nature-based facility, though.

Thank you.

I am fighting.

I will defeat this.

I am more than just my battle. ❤

  1. I can’t help as am in uk so have no knowledge of the centres over there but just want to say how proud I am of your decision and will be here cheering you to success

  2. I went to Rader Programs in southern California. It was a good experience, but it wasn’t as natural/hollistic as the place you want to go to. When I was there though, they didn’t use feeding tubes nor did they monitor bathroom stuff. They didn’t believe in a forced approach at recovery, so I guess you could say they were more “gentle” than other places that watch you like a hawk.

    • Okay, thank you. That helps. How did they go about the food/weight restoration process, if you don’t mind me asking?

      • Every person was put on a different food plan. So because I was underweight, I was put on a weight gain plan. We were not told how many calories were in our meals, but I’m pretty sure I had about 3000+ calories for the day. If girls didn’t finish their meals, they were given Boots or Ensure. The facility also made sure we got therapy around our weight gain and we were given a lot of opportunities to express our feelings about the food and weight.

      • This helps so much. I have one more question, however..and feel free to say if it is uncomfortable talking about, but will I have to gain all my lost weight back before I can go home?

  3. Me too. I will be praying for you.

  4. i have not, but it doesn’t mean i shouldn’t
